We are constantly connected to our phones, it’s undeniable. And, although they can bring us a lot of joy and connect us with loved ones (something that’s been even more important in recent months), they can also add to our stress levels. With notifications constantly piling up, the feeling of being always available and switched on can become increasingly overwhelming. Whilst enjoying a pamper night, try and keep your phone out of the mix.
This was Hannah Louise’s top tip: “My main tip for the perfect pamper night would be to do something that will make you you completely switch off from outside distractions. As long as you can disconnect from your phone and all the other sources of stress, even just for ten minutes, it really helps. Putting my phone down is hard but it really helps me to relax and I try to have a little time without it every time I have a pamper session!”
Light candles to up the spa ambience
If you’re sitting in your living room or bedroom with a big light on, screens around you and loud music playing, it’ll be hard to try and transport yourself to a place of calm. Before you start your pamper session, try and spend some time adjusting the space to create a spa ambience.
The best way to do this is with candles - try switching off the lights and relax by candlelight. You can even try using essential oils for those spa-like aromatherapy scents and playing some soft music to drown out the sounds of day-to-day life.
We spoke to Katie the Trendy Tourist, who echoes this suggestion: “If you’re feeling particularly stressed, anxious or burned out, try creating your very own spa. The idea is to mimic a spa-like environment in your home by lighting candles, playing soothing music and giving yourself a DIY treatment.”
Try something new and break your routine
For many of us, we have our old favourite pamper products that we are attached to, but sometimes it can be a nice treat to try something new and break up your routine. Trying out a new product is a great way to make a pamper evening feel that extra bit special.
Tahnee Flack told us: “My top tip would be to try new products for your pamper. It can be so easy to get into a routine and that's fine if it works, but don't be afraid to try something new and mix it up a little. I love trying new face masks at any opportunity.”
Share your pamper night with others
Whether you live with a partner or a roommate, sharing your pamper night with others is a great thing to do. You can keep it as a surprise or prearrange it together, but nothing is better for bonding than a night in sipping on a CBD-infused drink and chilling.
By having a joint pamper session, you can even level-up your treatments! Why not try your hand at massages? Or you could agree to both bring your own products to the party for a better selection.
Make it a frequent event
Enjoying a relaxing pamper once in a while is great, but if you add it to your diary and make it a more frequent event, you’re sure to feel the benefit. This way, you can have something to look forward to and enjoy making time for yourself, even if it’s just an hour a month for a long soak in the tub by candlelight! Prioritising our own mental health is one of the best things we can do and carving out a section of time to do this is a great way of helping ourselves and those who rely on us in the long run.
Katie told us: “Whether this is a makeshift facial, manicure or pedicure (or all three!), the idea is to treat yourself on a weekly basis to help you to forget about your worries and enter a state of deep relaxation.”
